The team at SmithGroup JJR wanted 3/4 body portraits of partners, architects and team members. All photos were taken on site at SmithGroup in San Francisco, CA.
SmithGroup JJR is one of the largest architecture firms in the United States. They needed architect portraits. Michelle Martin is in charge of Strategic Business Development and Communications for their San Francisco, CA office. Michelle wanted headshots and portraits for the new employees that have recently joined the growing firm as well as select partners. It was important to have consistent crops and looks in the photos so that as they added future employees there was a continuity.
We photographed thirty-five team members over two days in two different weeks. This made it convenient for people to find a time to have their photograph taken. Employees signed up online at a time that was most convenient for them. We communicated with each person telling them what to bring and what to wear. Everyone arrived early for makeup and wardrobe consultation.
Michelle wanted three-quarter length portraits in various natural looking positions. We coached people how to hold their hands and vary their expressions.
Smith Group JJR needed square format photos for LinkedIn as well as larger format shots.
After the shoot, each person chose their photos from online proofs. Michelle approved all selections to be sure that we had a consistent group of photos. We retouched the photos and gave SmithGroup the full crop as well as a tighter square crop for LinkedIn profiles.
